About the Founder & Our Mission

Breaking the Cycle, From Sports Development to Life Empowerment

The Stephen Braggs Youth Foundation (SBYF) was founded in 2010 to guide young athletes in the greater Austin area, helping them build a path toward professional sports through structured training, life coaching and personal athletic skills development programs. What started with fewer than 100 youth quickly grew into a thriving community of over 1,600 active participants annually.

Stephen Braggs, a former NFL player with over ten years of experience in the league as an NFL player and NFL coach, has dedicated his life to mentoring young people, particularly those without stable family support. Some faced homelessness, while others were on the verge of making life-altering decisions. However, Stephen didn't just mentor from a distance—he opened his home to those who needed stability and a fresh start.

A New Mission, Stability, Opportunity, and a Future Beyond Survival

Through years of life coaching, Stephen witnessed a deeper issue: too many young people age out of foster care or unstable situations with nowhere to turn. Without guidance, they struggle to find housing, secure jobs, and build the skills needed for independence, often leading to homelessness, incarceration, or financial instability. That's why SBYF is evolving. We are pivoting from youth sports development to providing housing support, smart money skills development, career training, and life coaching for transition-age youth and young adults in need.

Our mission is clearWith the right resources, young adults don’t just survive—they thrive.
